Water’s on, ground tilled, plots staked: gardens ready!

Good news gardeners: the plots at Orient Park and Anderson are ready!

City water was turned on earlier this week at Orient.

Tilling was completed at both gardens over the Victoria Day weekend.

Staking was completed Monday at noon and all annual plots are now ready.

Compost delivery is tentatively scheduled for Thursday May 30 assuming city load restrictions are lifted by then.

Please do not plant anything in the front 10 feet or so of your plots until the compost is delivered. You risk having your plants covered!

Straw delivery is planned for Saturday June 1st.

Before you start gardening, please take a refresher look at the community rules for the Orient Park and Anderson gardens and abide by them. You risk losing your plots if you do not.

Blackburn Funfair Fun Run Sunday June 2

A reminder that the Blackburn Hamlet FunFair is just over 2 weeks away and the annual FunRun will be taking place on Sunday June 2nd in the morning with the route including the Orient garden path.

The 5km run starts at 9AM on the soccer field behind the community center and finishes through the gardens. The 1km run starts at 10AM from the soccer fields to the gardens and back.

As always, runners are instructed to stay on the paths and we ask gardeners to leave the paths free of cars and other obstacles. Please and thank you!
