We are pleased to offer GAGA members the option to pre-order straw for their plots again this year. Straw will be delivered to the gardens by our supplier June 4th. Online prepayment is the only option. Cost is $9 per bale – same as last year. Payment must be received before end of day Thursday June 2nd. Late payments will not receive straw. The City of Ottawa has informed the Gloucester Allotment garden Association that compost will not be available for pickup at the Trail Road facility until at least mid-June. Due to the storm, the City has encountered delays getting the equipment to process the compost, and they are being inundated with tree branches from the cleanup after the storm. Because of the uncertainty of when compost will be available, GAGA has decided we will not be providing it for our gardeners this year. WE ARE LOOKING FOR 24 VOLUNTEERS who will help with staking our Orient Park plots as soon as possible after the gardens have been tilled. We no longer need to operate under strict COVID protocols, so each staking team will have an extra member to make the work go easier. If you would like to work with a specific individual or individuals, please let us know in advance and we will make an effort to accommodate that within the teams.
